As a part of Mahi-Mahi Surf Resort’s commitment to a positive social impact on Simeulue, it is committed to improving health and education locally, allowing guests, volunteers, and staff the opportunity to give back.
Currently assessing the health needs and opportunities on Simeulue, Mahi-Mahi seeks collaborations to serve the local communities’ needs by providing medical treatment and health programs.
Education efforts are threefold and are intended to offer mutually enriching opportunities for all. First, volunteers in the VAST program support local Simeulue English teachers in the classroom and provide an opportunity for internationalization through cultural exchange. Second, the Kids' Club at Mahi-Mahi offers tutoring and youth development activities to strengthen community ties and ensure the opportunity of a positive future for each child. Last, adult community outreach provides a platform for continual dialogue and solidarity with the Simeulue community in which Mahi-Mahi is located.
